Interesting facts
Leonardo DiCaprio was offered the part of Matthew but turned it down as he was in pre-production on The Aviator (2004). Michael Pitt, who bears a strong resemblance to DiCaprio, was cast instead.
At the film's end, Theo and Isabelle's parents return home and begin whispering to one another in flawless English rather than French. However, since Isabelle had told Matthew when they first met that her mother is English, it is not surprising they would be speaking English.
