Synopsis
It's 30 AD and everyone is expectantly awaiting the coming Messiah. While Jesus isn't exactly what they imagined, there is something special about this man. Soon, John, James, Andrew, Peter, and others begin to follow Jesus on an unexpected adventure. This beautifully animated story of Jesus is told through the eyes of his beloved young friend, the Apostle John. From the beginning of Jesus' ministry through his crucifixion and resurrection, LIGHT OF THE WORLD powerfully illustrates how Jesus of Nazareth changed the world forever and still changes lives today. Hi, I'm John. I'm gonna tell you a story about our father, Jesus. You see, Jesus is the true Messiah, but one day, something terrible happened! I will summon wild animals from rainforests to polar regions into Bethlehem, and all of my army of animals will then attack all the soldiers in Bethlehem, followed by the soldiers with their swords and on their horses killing all the male newborn children in Bethlehem. So Mary, Joseph, and I will go to Egypt on a donkey because I saved little Jesus. So, here's my story as a boy when we went to the nativity.

This is DreamWorks' next hand-drawn film, since Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas (2003) was their most recent hand-drawn release in 2003. The final creature to appear after the end credits is a dragon that uses recycled Tyrannosaurus vocalisations from Walking with Dinosaurs (1999).
