In a 2024 interview with MovieWeb, Eshom Nelms talked about casting Andie MacDowell as the antagonist: "Ian Nelms and I really enjoy unconventional casting. We like to choose someone we think will astonish you by what they can achieve. We’re huge admirers of her work... honestly, Sexo, mentiras y cintas de vídeo (1989) and Atrapado en el tiempo (1993) are among our favourite films. It felt so far outside her comfort zone, so when she came to us... like, 'Are you kidding? Andie MacDowell spoke to us about it?' How absolutely phenomenal is that?"
In a 2024 interview with Collider, Ian Nelms described one of the shoot’s major unforeseen difficulties: a lengthy final action sequence that involved many people running through corridors and outside, with Garret Dillahunt positioned by a car. Co‑ordinating the whole sequence proved challenging — lining actors up, getting the wide shots to show perspective and geography — and we spent about five days at that house filming the large melee. Due to weather and other issues we lost the location and ran out of time, so we had to move to different sites and filmed for a week elsewhere. Partway through the shootout we then had to return for a further week at the end of the shoot to complete the sequence. Nelms likened the situation to the scene where Kenneth Miller and Orlando Bloom exchange gunfire. Kenny has an impressive shootout, a knife fight with Orlando and several other set pieces; we filmed Kenny’s side on one day and, a week later, Orlando’s side. Matching those takes — cutting between over‑the‑shoulder coverage of one actor and then the other — was demanding. Fortunately Kenny, a consummate professional, turned up with his performance intact and we reviewed the takes, but recapturing the original energy was far from easy.
