In this film, set in 1939, the Legionnaires are depicted wearing the blue-and-white uniform which had been withdrawn during the First World War.
After singing "Harvest Moon", Stan and Ollie gather up their suitcases, but as they do so they each lift the other one's suitcase instead of the one they had been carrying a moment earlier.
After Georgette faints, Stan pours water over her head to bring her round, but her hair is unexpectedly dry when Stan and Ollie make for the window after being confronted by her husband.
The water jug is in a different position before Laurel slides the desk in front of the window than it is afterwards.
The arrangement of the towels on the towel rail in Laurel & Hardy's room shifts when Stan is beneath the low ceiling.
While Ollie is unfastening the rope that secures the heavy rock to his waist, his back is turned towards Stanley. After Stanley tosses the rock into the river and Ollie is dragged in, he is now facing Stanley.
Stan and Ollie are found guilty of desertion and sentenced to death. However, the death penalty for desertion was only ever sought in wartime; they would instead merely have been dishonourably discharged and sentenced to five years' imprisonment.
The luggage and suitcases that Laurel & Hardy and Reginald Gardiner carry appear to be empty, judging by how effortlessly they are borne.
A conspicuous stand-in for Ollie is visible when, after Stanley hurls the heavy rock, Ollie is unintentionally dragged into the river.
It's clear there is a framework concealed beneath the vast mound of washing that forms steps allowing Stan to climb to the top.
On the shark's first pass by Ollie's trousers, its fins are already past his left leg, suggesting a cut in the film.
