Douglas Kelley authored the book "22 Cells in Nuremberg", which recounts his personal interactions with participants in the Nuremberg trials. In the book’s final chapter he describes recognising patterns from pre‑Second World War Germany in the modern‑day United States. Following the trials, Kelley collaborated with the Berkeley and Oakland police forces in California, interviewing officers to evaluate their psychological profiles and frequently drawing comparisons with those he had interviewed at Nuremberg. Much of his research is held in the UC Berkeley libraries.
