In the closing scene, after the antagonist has been killed, both police officers leave the scene. Brand remarks that the murder will remain unsolved, then summons the lift without wearing gloves, thereby leaving a fingerprint at the scene.
Brant displays utter foolishness by being violent towards a well-meaning witness who, in fact, possesses the solution to the entire case.

A little beyond the halfway point, after Dunlop is shown the gun, the police officer's hat and so on in the boot of the car, he no longer needs Radnor. All he has to do is identify the person linked to the car, which ought to have been straightforward for a journalist since the licence plate was there in plain sight. Radnor should also have thought of that, given how meticulous he was about the sum in the envelope.
