For reasons unknown, Lumi Pollack's character name was altered from Autumn to Emma in the Spanish dub, even featuring in the Spanish title as "Emma y el jaguar negro" (Emma and the Black Jaguar).
To reach Mamirauá you must first travel via Manaus, the capital of the Amazon. There are no direct flights from other locations. From Manaus, a small twin‑engined aircraft connects you to Tefé, where Mamirauá is situated.
The only other way to get to Tefé from Manaus is a three‑day journey by boat.
The name of the town the girl travels to appears to allude to Mamirauá, a research reserve — not a settlement — situated near the town of Tefé. This should be verified.
Assuming the film refers to Mamiraua, that whole region is a floodplain. It is impossible to build a road there because the water level shifts by 10 metres or more between seasons. For that reason, floating houses on the river are very common.
In Tefé there is a tourist hotel located in a floating house in the middle of the river. There are also research centres not open to the public housed in floating buildings.
Another common type of dwelling are stilt houses.
