Frankenstein goofs

From the film's opening and throughout, a number of establishing shots make it clear that the ship is encased in ice on all sides and remains firmly immobilised despite the crew's attempts to free it. By the film's end, when the creature releases the vessel, it is shown to be only a few metres from the open sea and could easily have been freed by the crew in no time.

While standing on ice, the creature is shown pressing against the hull of an ice-bound ship, causing it to break away from the surrounding ice and nearly capsize. Regardless of its strength, such a manoeuvre is physically implausible: the friction between foot and ice would be far too low for it to exert the force required to move an ice-bound vessel weighing roughly 3,000 tonnes. Pushing in this way would simply have caused the creature's feet to slide out from beneath him.
