Shaun of the Dead goofs

When Shaun first comes down the stairs he sits on the settee and picks up a PlayStation controller; we then hear "Player 2 has entered the game" followed by "Player 2 has left the game". The game Ed is playing, TimeSplitters 2 (2002), does not include a 'press start to add players' feature.

Just as Ed strikes the one-armed zombie on the head with an ashtray, and for a few seconds afterwards, the television is visible in the background. Although the newsreader’s voice remains audible, the screen alternates a few times between showing the news and a blank display with "AV3" in the top-left corner, with only the sound continuing.

When Philip is bitten, everyone climbs into the car. A brief reflection of the incident is visible on the car's surface.

Simon Pegg seems to shout 'Nick, look out' when the car runs over the zombie, addressing actor Nick Frost rather than his character, Ed.

During Shaun's first visit to the shop, one of the newspapers briefly displays the word "Vacine" rather than "Vaccine."

In the pub attack scene, as Shaun steps away from his bar stool and Liz takes it back, the same shot shows a female zombie at the far left of the frame, motionless with her arm resting on a booth and staring directly into the camera.

In the pub, whilst the zombies are forcing their way in and immediately after Liz shouts "stay back", a few seconds later a following shot shows her holding the bar stool aloft rather than bracing it against the zombies.

When Shaun heads to the shop for a second time, just before he walks past the blue car the whole area in front of the shop is briefly shown and it’s empty. Moments later, after a runner passes Shaun and the camera swings back to the shopfront, a female zombie materialises on the pavement out of nowhere.

When Ed sets the Molotov cocktail alight, it disappears as the zombies drag him away.

When Shaun returns to the local shop once more, he slips on what appears to be blood while making his way to the fridge. However, as he walks away he doesn't slip again, and when the camera pulls back you briefly glimpse the floor and there is no sign of any blood. A clean patch of floor is also visible for a split-second as he enters the shop.

When Shaun and Ed are in the back garden battering two zombies with a shovel and a cricket bat, their clothes become smeared with blood while the weapons remain spotless. Later, in the lounge, Ed raises the blood-stained shovel.

In the pub's cellar, Shaun places a cigarette in Ed's mouth and sets it alight for him. In the next cut the cigarette is unlit, and after another cut it is shown lit.

The "shaved" patch on the back of Ed's head varies in size over the course of the film. In some shots it looks very small, while in others it stands out quite noticeably.

When Mary stands up, Ed winds the camera to take a photo, although he'd already wound it immediately after photographing Shaun and Mary together.

While Shaun and Ed pelt Mary and the Fat Man with objects in the garden, one of the early throws (and another later on) goes through the rear window, and the curtains inside can be seen billowing upwards. By the time they've used up all their objects, every other window remains intact.

When the shotgun cartridges begin detonating on the burning bar, there are three close-up shots of the cartridge box. In the first, only a couple of exploded cartridges are left in the box; in the second most of the cartridges have fired, but in the third there are actually more unexploded cartridges than in the second.

In the pub's cellar, Shaun places his hand behind Liz. In the next shot his hand is missing, and then it reappears in the subsequent shot.

When Dianne flings Shaun the tennis racket she does so expecting him to catch it with the tennis ball on his left-hand side, yet in the subsequent shot he is shown catching it with the ball on his right-hand side.

During the fight with the Queen, as Shaun falls and picks himself up, his cue changes hands twice — but only one of those switches is intentional.

Visiting Liz's flat to apologise after failing to reserve a table, Shaun says he doesn't want any cigarettes and tosses his packet of Embassy into the bin. By the film's close, a desperate Liz, who has rifled through the bin, offers Shaun a cigarette from that very packet — which, oddly, is now a packet of Marlboro Lights.

As Shaun and Ed play on the PlayStation, the game's level shown on the screen changes whenever the camera cuts to it.

While the characters are in the car, the wound on Philip's shoulder changes appearance and then returns to its original state.

In the opening scene of the film, Shaun takes a sip from an almost-empty glass of beer. By the end of the scene he is sipping from a full glass.

Outside the pub, while the group are pretending to be zombies to get through, several of the zombies' positions swap around at random, and some which had already passed the group are, seconds later, far ahead of them.

When Shaun and Ed strike the man in the road while driving Pete's car, he is propelled over the roof and hits the rear window, causing crazing but not breaking it. When they reverse to check whether he's all right, and in later shots, the window is shown undamaged.

When the zombies crash into the pub, Shaun vaults over the bar without his rifle, yet he's shown holding it again shortly afterwards.

Across a number of scenes featuring Pete's car, the Renault badge on the front intermittently appears and disappears.

When the television in Shaun's house advises the viewing public to isolate anyone who has been bitten, Shaun and Ed are seen in the reflection on the screen glancing up at the ceiling and then at one another. The following shot shows them repeating the same action.

Whenever Shaun opens the fridge door in the shop, the camera's reflection can be seen in the door.

When they first begin to strike the pub owner with pool cues, it's plain to see the actor/stuntman has padding tucked under the back of his shirt.

As Shaun and Ed reverse to inspect the zombie they've just run over, an intact cable tie remains fastened to the zombie's fake, demented leg.

As Shaun starts to shepherd the horde of zombies away from the Winchester, immediately after he shouts "come on you pasty-faced pansies, let's go!", the camera pans slightly to the left and a crew member wearing a blue shirt is visible in the top-left corner, running too late to escape the camera's view.

When Shaun is set upon and goes crashing through the fence, Liz scans for something to help him; as the camera shifts to the children's table a figure is momentarily visible, crouched in the bushes at the top right of the frame.

When Shaun steps out of the Jaguar to go up to Liz's flat, immediately after Ed says "yeah yeah, I'll do the honks," and as he drives away, a bald camera operator in a blue shirt can be seen for just a couple of frames in the small rear window.

When the shells begin to explode, one of the projectiles ricochets off several items in the pub; however, this would be impossible because shells release shrapnel, which couldn't ricochet in that way.

While they're all in the car heading to Liz's flat, Philip remarks "it's a 20 miles per hour zone". The film is set in England, which uses kilometres per hour.

When Liz operates the CO2 fire extinguisher she is holding the horn in her left hand. The horn of a CO2 extinguisher becomes extremely cold when discharged — cold enough to cause burns or frostbite to the skin. She could not have done this without sustaining an injury.

When the 'Groom Zombie' enters the shared home of Shaun, Ed and Pete, you can spot positioning marks on the floor during Shaun and Ed's reaction shot. Look to the lower right of the frame and you'll make out at least two markers made with blue tape on the floor. These are continuity marks and ought not to be visible in the final edit.

As Shaun bolts out of Liz's flat towards the car and strikes each zombie with his cricket bat, the bat bends, revealing that it is made of foam.

A second zombie wearing jeans stands behind Ed; only the zombie in the wedding suit was attacked.
