In 1871 Babette pays with skilling, the unit of currency in use at the time. Fourteen years on she is still using skilling, despite Denmark switching in 1875 from skilling to kroner and øre.
Centre-back zips are visible on several women's gowns, most notably on the white gown worn by the Swedish lady-in-waiting. The film is set in the 19th century, yet commercially produced zip fastenings were not adopted in apparel until the 1930s, initially appearing on children's garments.
