12 Gifts of Christmas goofs

The mum invites Mark to dinner, saying it's for Sunday evening. After ending the call, he tells Anna they've been invited to dinner this evening.

Marc leaves his office and heads home. He tells his secretary "Good night", even though it is broad daylight outside, plainly visible through his office window.

Marc turns up to collect Anna and her nieces for dinner at Marc's mum's house while it is still broad daylight. In the next scene, during the car journey to Marc's mum's, it is completely dark and they are admiring the Christmas lights on display on the houses en route (the duration of the journey is not given, so it’s possible it grew dark while they were travelling). They also state the date as 21 December, around the Winter Solstice, and give the pickup time as 5pm. In the New York City area it is already dark by that time on that date.

The film is set just before Christmas, yet the only sign of winter appears in the New York City stock footage — bare deciduous trees and plenty of snow. Throughout the film, the deciduous bushes and most of the trees are green (a small number show yellowish leaves). The production sprayed artificial snow on some trees to mask this, and there was almost no snow anywhere except outside Marie's house. It was so mild that in one scene, when Mark pulls up in his Audi A4 to collect Anna from her home, he actually drives with the driver's window fully down.
