When Roper visits Korda in prison, Korda's voice is out of sync with his lip movements.

The final sequence featuring Korda was not shot on Mare Island — there are no dry docks in that location, and the buildings shown were brick-built rather than metal. When Korda tells you to enter Mare Island through the North gate of Dixon he's incorrect: the north gate is off Sears Point Road, and the tower bearing "Mare Island" is on the drawbridge of the causeway, which serves as the main gate.

As Earl presses the pistol to Debbie's head, its hammer shifts from cocked to uncocked and then back again between rounds.

In the opening hostage scene Roper is dressed in an orange V-neck jumper with a T‑shirt visible beneath it. The T‑shirt disappears and reappears several times.

Despite arriving in the middle of a heavy downpour, Roper is completely dry when he knocks on Veronica's door to visit Troy.

When Roper approaches the warehouse, McCall is dangling beneath the lorry. In earlier shots, when there was a clear view, no-one is visible.

The stripes on the knot of Sam's tie change several times before he meets Korda in the lift.

After the cable car collides with the rear of a red car, the red car's back remains unscathed as it overturns.

The car that rolls over in front of the cable car is of a different make and bears a different registration plate.

Immediately after Paul Ben-Victor cuts Eddie Murphy, he flips the knife in his hand. The next shot, from a different angle, once again shows Paul Ben-Victor changing the knife's orientation in the same manner.

The laser spot from McCall's rifle fades out behind Roper's head.

When Lt. Baffet enters Michael's flat, he remarks on an antique radio resting on the worktop next to some records. Later, when Scott enters the flat, the radio is missing.

After the car overturns, an SFPD officer is clearly visible at the junction, downhill from the cable car on the left‑hand side of the screen.

When the red Thunderbird is struck by the cable car and rolls over another car, smoke is visible beneath the centre of the car, apparently from the explosion (possibly the hydraulics?) that causes it to flip as it's going over.

During the cable-car pursuit, as McCall swerves to avoid the red car that has overturned, a camera can be seen on the right-hand side of the road beside the pavement.

The final scene is intended to be set on Tahiti, yet the closing shot actually shows Bora Bora, another island in French Polynesia (Tahiti is the best-known). Tahiti doesn't have any white sandy beaches rimmed by palm trees encircling a blue lagoon.

During the car chase and the ensuing collision neither Korda nor his hostage is wearing seat belts, yet Korda emerges from the wreck with only minor scratches — he ought to have been ejected as the vehicle rolled.

As Michael Korda opens the door to climb into Roper's lorry, he has a coat draped over his arm. In the following shot a coat is resting on the lorry's bonnet — it's Roper's coat.

When Scott tells his superior officer that Kevin won't last a fortnight, his head is turned away from Kevin, so there is no way Kevin could have read his lips and known what he said.

Towards the end of the film a tram collides with a car. When the vehicle overturns, there is no gearbox or driveshaft visible beneath it.

In the closing action sequence, an unmistakable stunt double leaps from the pick-up.

In the tram chase sequence, a passenger can be seen clutching a fake dog.

When the cable car pushes the Cadillac, the vehicle is clearly suspended several inches above the ground, yet the tyres produce smoke as if they were touching the surface.

As the cable car hurtles out of control, it can clearly be seen veering to the right-hand side of the rails for a split second.

Although the out-of-control cable car is intended to run along the rails, it is actually a motorised replica of a cable car mounted on ordinary wheels.

When a car overturns in front of the cable car, an obvious ramp fitted to the front of the vehicle travelling in the opposite direction launches the overturned car into the air.

Near the film’s end, Kevin McCall fires three shots from his sniper rifle in rapid succession, giving the impression of a semi-automatic action. The SWAT unit’s standard-issue M24 SWS is a bolt‑action rifle, however, which necessitates manually operating the bolt to chamber each round.

When Korda ploughs through the police cordon, his car emerges unscathed, despite the two police vehicles forming the barrier being severely damaged.
