Anamaria Vartolomei said she wanted to honour Maria Schneider's spark with the role and not merely dwell in darkness. "Maria was a very positive figure. She was fire, mischief, freedom — an electrifying presence. I have great admiration for her and for her career, because she found the strength she needed to make her voice heard. She sought to lift the veil and break the silence on taboo matters of violence and sexism in the industry. She wanted to protect future generations, and, regrettably, that still resonates with current affairs."
