Lakeview Terrace goofs

While Chris is talking to Abel at the bar, he has cash in his hand. By the time he sits down to take his drink, the cash has disappeared.

In the pub scene featuring Chris and Abel, the amount of Scotch Chris is drinking varies from one shot to the next.

When they're at the pool and Abel slaps his daughter, his outfit alternates between his uniform and checked shorts.

After the burglar is shot, the pool runs red with his blood. In the following scene, with the police present, the pool water is clear blue again.

Towards the end of the film, Lisa has a wound on her forehead; its size fluctuates over the course of the subsequent scenes.

When Abel begins cutting down his neighbour's new trees along the fence, he is to the right of the fence while Chis and Lisa are on the opposite side. However, this is the reverse of how the houses are orientated.

On screen, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department is depicted attending calls in Lakeview Terrace. In reality, Lakeview Terrace lies within the city of Los Angeles, so the LAPD would be the authority to respond.

Throughout the film Abel Turner is depicted with a goatee in every scene, including those in which he is performing his duties. LAPD grooming regulations do not permit officers to have beards or goatees while on duty.

When Abel attends to a domestic disturbance, he answers a radio call with "10-4". The LAPD does not use "10" codes; he would have said "Roger".

Abel is soaking his tiled roof in an attempt to prevent wildfire damage. As a very practical, hands-on homeowner, he would know that this is unnecessary. Tiled roofing is used in such areas for precisely that reason.

At the end, an ambulance turns up bearing the sign "Los Angeles County Fire Department." In reality, the Los Angeles County Fire Department outsources ambulance services to private companies.

When Chris introduces himself, he says he came to Berkeley from Chicago to take up a lacrosse scholarship. The University of California, Berkeley only has a men's club lacrosse team and does not offer scholarships.

In the film, the uniform patches and badges worn by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies are labelled "County Sheriff" and display a seal similar to that of the State of California. In reality, the patches show a star alongside a bear, and the badges have a bear at their centre.

In the film, Los Angeles County Sheriff's vehicles are labelled 'Los Angeles Sheriff' rather than 'Los Angeles County Sheriff', and the sides of the vehicles feature an eight-point star instead of a six-point star.

Oddly, after Able shoots the burglar, there doesn't appear to have been any form of investigation or even questioning about why Able shot an unarmed man. Moreover, at the very least he would have been taken to a police station and interviewed by Professional Standards/a firearms investigation team, rather than being left at his home to douse the blaze with a hose.

The wildfires draw nearer to the neighbourhood, yet there is no ash. The air close to a blaze can be highly toxic and ought to appear extremely ashen, particularly towards the end of the film.

In the film, LAPD uniform shirts are fitted with plastic buttons on the pockets and epaulettes; in real life, those shirts use metal buttons.

It's quiet, but when the nurse tries to catch Chris's attention, she appears to address him as Mr Wilson, the actor's surname.
