The control room summons Detective Ruiney to Bancroft Primary, where he discovers a body; later, when speaking with Detective Archer, he refers to it as Wayward Primary.
Dr Westlin repeatedly records asphyxia as the cause of death after only a brief inspection of the bodies. Even if the victims appear to have been hanged, a physician would need a far more thorough post-mortem to be certain of the actual cause — for example, someone might have suffered a heart attack while suspended. In addition, hanging can result in several distinct mechanisms of death; a doctor must distinguish between a lack of oxygen because the person could not breathe and death caused by blood flow to the brain being cut off. While a doctor or coroner might offer police provisional opinions, they would not state a cause as unequivocally as Dr Westlin did.
