The film is set in the present day and includes a gag towards the end that pokes fun at Liam Neeson’s penchant for starring in implausible action films. Neeson supplied the voice-over, and it is unmistakably his present-day voice; oddly, the cardboard standee in the theatre foyer inexplicably features a photograph of Neeson that looks to be from about 25 years earlier.

Although it provides a humorous moment, snow throwers can't cause anything like the calamity that befalls Brad. Both the auger and the forward movement are operated by manual controls, never automatically, and those controls must be held firmly to remain engaged; otherwise they'll disengage. That safety feature exists to prevent precisely the kind of catastrophe shown here.
