At the film's end, Major Pollock is given a newspaper that is shown folded differently between cuts: in one shot it’s folded in two, while in another it’s folded into quarters. The clue is that the picture on the back 'half' is upright — if it had been folded in two, that image would have been upside down.
When John takes Ann into his arms on the terrace, she lets her cigarette slip from her fingers. Yet when they return indoors, the cigarette is still clasped in her hand.
