Love in Taipei goofs

The Loveboat programme in the film is set at the FAB Hotel in Danshui. From the hotel, across the river, you can see Bali District and the Taipei Port Container Terminal. Taipei 101 does not come into view from that vantage point, but the filmmakers have superimposed it into the shot.

As the coach from the airport conveys the group to the hotel, it is shown travelling north on National Freeway 1 past Taipei; in that shot it has already gone beyond the exit for Danshui and is moving further away from the FAB Hotel.

The "Love Boat" study tour takes place in summer, between June and July, so that students can attend during the summer holiday. Summer in Taiwan is very hot and humid, particularly for those who are not local, so participants on the study tour typically do not wear jackets, sweatshirts or similar clothing.

Although undeniably adapted for entertainment value, the real Loveboat programme took place in hostel-style or communal accommodation, rather than in a four-star hotel.

At the Grand Hotel party, Ever makes her entrance by descending from the upper floor down the grand staircase. In reality, the main entrance would have taken her through the reception and up the stairs before she could come back down, so the guests would already have seen her arrive and interacted with her.
