Walking Tall goofs

The tattoo of the Fifth Special Forces Group beret flash on Chris's left upper arm depicts the design used during the Vietnam War, but that pattern was not in use during the era when Chris would have been serving in the army.

In the film, when shots strike the prison walls the rounds pass cleanly through as if the walls were nothing more than plasterboard; in reality, prison walls are built from concrete or breeze blocks, which would prevent bullets from penetrating.

In the American football sequence, just as Chris' side prepares to run the final play before the game concludes, he calls out "End zone 28", yet when the camera cuts to Chris, his mouth is not moving.

As Chris walks into the kitchen after Denny drives off their property, Chris' mum is on the phone and asks "Where is he?" about their family member Pete, but her lips are not moving as the camera pans to her.

At the hospital and in court, Chris is shown with extensive scars across his abdomen and chest, continuing up onto his right shoulder. Yet when Deni and Chris remove their shirts at the police station, Chris's body shows no scars.

While Deni and Chris are kissing in the office, they both take their shirts off; however, towards the end of the scene Deni is shown with her shirt back on for one shot.

While Chris is dismantling the lorry, he is shown taking off the front passenger-side tyre, yet in an earlier shot the vehicle appears with no tyres at all.

When Chris and Ray are smashing up the security guard's lorry, Ray smashes the windscreen. A few shots later, however, the windscreen is back again.

Before the assault on the sheriff's office, Jay lights his cigarette on two separate occasions.

Whilst Chris is rampaging through the casino, he starts by striking a slot machine; its plastic cover comes away, exposing the internal lights, which are unlit. In the following shot, however, those lights are illuminated.

Following the fights at the casino, the loaded shotgun is no longer on the lorry's seat.

In the scene where the casino security guard tears Chris's necklace and his special forces charm from around his neck, the first shot shows only the charm and a very small section of the chain in the guard's hand immediately after he pulls it off; a couple of shots later, however, the whole necklace and charm are shown in the guard's hand.

During their scuffle, Chris and Jay tumble down a hill. For a single shot while they are rolling, Jay's axe disappears; when they come to rest, the axe is back in Jay's hand.

During the traffic stop involving the silver sports car, Chris asks Jay for his driving licence & vehicle registration. Jay initially passes them over with his right hand and holds on to them for a moment; in the subsequent camera shot he is seen handing the documents to Chris with his left hand.

When Chris collects the post, he shuts the letterbox. In the subsequent close-up of him, however, the letterbox is shown open.

Aboard the ferry, Chris starts to turn to his left, but in the following shot he is seen completing the turn to his right.

When Ray is detaining the casino security guard pressed against the lorry, he instructs him to lower his hands; in the close-up the guard appears to do so, but in the next shot his hands are still on the lorry and he lowers them once more.

During the gunfight at the sheriff's station, a man seems to have been struck in the face or chest by a shotgun at point-blank range. The next time he is shown on screen, his body appears unscathed.

The placement of Chris's hand on the envelope of cash shifts from one shot to the next when he presses it against Hamilton's chest.

While held overnight in prison, Chris is wearing a white T-shirt, but by the following morning it's black.

At 19:32 the dancing girl is plainly glancing left and right, even though she knows the person would be seated directly opposite the mirror in front of her.

When Chris draws up at the casino with a shotgun in his lorry, a cameraman's reflection appears in the windscreen.

Moments before Chris stops Jay by the roadside, the camera crew's vehicle headlights are visible as they drive past Jay's car.

While Ray is fighting the goons in Chris's house, a cameraman can be seen reflected in a cupboard.

During the police station shoot‑out, Deni keeps pulling the trigger after the pistol has run out of ammunition, and the weapon simply makes a clicking noise while the slide remains closed. This is inaccurate for a Glock — when the last round is fired the slide locks back and stays open to allow reloading, and with the slide locked back you cannot pull the trigger to produce a click.

The scars on Chris's chest and stomach disappear while he is unloading timber from his lorry. He lifts his shirt after putting his tool belt on over it, and no scars are visible. Earlier, he had been slashed when attacked by the casino security.

Ashley Scott's Southern US accent is audible on several occasions.

Chris frightens a thug in the casino; the man spins round and knocks himself unconscious by running into an object, although he clearly misses it by quite a distance.

While Chris is in the casino with the 4x4, he approaches a mirror. In slow motion he is seen winding up to throw it from his right-hand side, yet the mirror reflection shows him releasing it from the left.

When a thug from the Casino leaps onto Vaughn, he lands atop the 4x4 he’d been using to wreck the place. You can see the 4x4 bend as Vaughn throws the thug down onto the table.
