Kate Beckinsale

Kate was born into a family of actors. Among her ancestors are natives of Burma. The actress said that when she was a child her appearance resembled that of an Asian, although her recent photos certainly do not support that. Kate's father died before she was six years old. However, she remembers well the grief that fell on her then. When her mother remarried, Beckinsale began to break down more often. Another nervous breakdown led to an eating disorder. At 15, she lost weight dramatically, and then began struggling with alcohol and smoking addiction. The actress overcame cravings for alcohol, but she never did give up the cigarettes. Her stepfather encouraged Beckinsale when she swore. As a result, she learned a lot of obscene expressions. Kate speaks fluent Russian. While still a student at Oxford, she began to study Russian literature. Regardless of the weather outside, the actress starts every morning with a jog. She has made it a rule to run at least a mile and a half.
