According to the filmmakers, the story is set around 1780, yet Rapunzel is depicted striking a match to light candles. The first modern, self‑igniting match was invented in 1805 by Jean Chancel.
As Mother Gothel plummets from the tower, her hands look youthful even as she disintegrates into dust; yet earlier they had already been shown to appear aged before she started to fall.
When Flynn is dying, he is lying on his back with the palm of his right hand facing upwards on the floor. Later, when we view the two lovers from high above (while the magic is in effect), the palm of his right hand is facing downwards. If Flynn were dead, he would not be able to change the orientation of his hand.
Gothel senselessly kept observing Rapunzel's birthday on the actual day, even though the child, first as a baby and then as a toddler, wouldn't have noticed any difference — and, of course, that was exactly when a large display of floating lanterns was held each year for the missing princess.

In the opening scene Mother Gothel approaches the Magic Golden Flower wearing a blue dress and a red cape. However, when the shot returns to that same moment a few seconds later she is depicted in a red dress with a blue cape. The red dress and blue cape colouring persists for the remainder of the film.
When Mother Gothel enters Rapunzel's tower through the secret passage after her encounter with Maximus, Rapunzel's chamber is dark because the roof, the window and the curtains are all shut. Yet when Rapunzel first leaves the tower, the window and the roof are shown open and the interior is bright. Since there was no one else in the tower after she left, the window, curtains and roof couldn't have been closed following her departure.
When Flynn first tumbles out of Rapunzel's wardrobe, he falls forwards; however, after landing on top of Rapunzel he ends up lying on his back.
After the two brothers flee the guard at the Snuggly Duckling, they seize the guard's spear and use it to sever the chain linking their shackled wrists (the shackles remain on their wrists). A few moments later, when they are seen again chasing Flynn, the shackles have disappeared.
In the song "I've Got A Dream", the first singer — the one with a hook for a hand — tears off most of the piano's keys when he strikes the instrument, yet after a few seconds he manages to play a lengthy riff during which the majority of the piano keys are audible.
When Rapunzel and Flynn become trapped in a cave as it fills with water, Flynn has a cut on his left hand. In the subsequent shot, as they emerge from the river, that cut has disappeared.
When Rapunzel and Eugene climbed out of the water, they were soaking wet. Yet by the time they were sat around the campfire, they were completely dry.
Every vessel in the harbour is clearly at anchor and remains unmoved despite the light breeze (clearly visible in the lanterns scene). Yet each one is depicted with all sails set — an obvious mistake, even for an animated fantasy film.
Rapunzel's hair is only long enough to haul Mother Gothel up, yet it is also sufficiently long to lower Rapunzel to the ground — a manoeuvre that would require twice the length. However, the film shows Rapunzel looping her hair over hooks when lifting Gothel, which means roughly half the length can remain coiled inside the tower, with only the necessary portion lowered for Gothel.
When Rapunzel and Flynn arrive at the lantern festival and cross the bridge, Rapunzel looks back towards the camera and forms "Wow!" with her lips — there is no sound; she's not actually exclaiming, but silently mouthing the word because she's so stunned by the view.
Rapunzel doesn't comment on Gothel's evident ageing between the songs about her hair. She says nothing, but that silence doesn't mean she hasn't noticed — she has been aware of her powers from the outset.
Despite having spent her entire life confined to a tower, Rapunzel is able to swim.
