"Naperekor sud'be" is a Ukrainian melodramatic mini-series that tells the story of a young investigator named Rita Sorokina. She graduated from law school and became an operative, just like her father. However, both her father and her beloved Artem, who also works in law enforcement, keep the details of her mother's death a secret from her. The tragedy occurred due to a random fire. Rita doubts that it was an accident and conducts her own investigation. She discovers that her mother was having an affair and her father may be involved in what happened.
