Tihiy Don (1957 - 1958)

The series "Quiet Don" is a Soviet adaptation of the novel of the same name by Mikhail Sholokhov. Grigory Melekhov, a young Cossack from the Don region, falls in love with his neighbor Aksinya Astakhova during the May labor gatherings. The feeling is mutual, but there is a major problem: she is already married to a cruel man who beats her. No one cares about Aksinya's fate; society is only concerned with the fact that she has no right to shame Grigory and betray her husband. As a result, they arrange a marriage for Grigory with Natalya Korshunova, who is not loved by him but is deemed suitable.
