The characters often use language that did not come into common use until well after 1966. They refer to protection as 'condoms,' a term that in the 1960s was far more commonly called 'Johnnies.' Furthermore, Young Carl is told that when dealing with Thick Kevin it is important to "think outside the box," an expression that did not enter widespread usage until the early 1990s.
